01 |purpose

lith sits on your desk, doing one thing well out the box - helping your focus with a pomodoro timer.

02 |make it into something else

knap /nap/ · verb · to shape a stone by striking flakes from it; here, to shape your lith into a new tool.

The timer is just the first shape. lith is reconfigurable.

Based on the ESP32 s3 it is compatible with Arduino and PlatformIO IDEs so you can write (knap) your own firmware.

03 |what's inside

Every lith is built from the same small, well-understood parts. Small enough to sit on a desk, open enough to reconfigure.

ESP32-S3-Zero

The brain. WiFi + Bluetooth, USB-C with native CDC, plenty of headroom for custom firmware.

1.9″ TFT LCD display

ST7789V2 panel, 320×170, driven over SPI. Refreshes fast enough to animate.

Rotary encoder

The orange scroll wheel. Turns into a dial, a scrubber, a volume knob, whatever the firmware wants it to be.

Keyboard switches

Two mechanical keys. Each reads a tap and a hold separately, so one key does two jobs.

Coin vibration motor

Haptic feedback driven through an NPN transistor for clean PWM control, a quiet buzz instead of a beep.
